One of the best ways to work on your game, and have fun at the same time, is to play on a golf simulator.  With that in mind, I wanted to provide some info on some of the affordable golf simulators for home use.

Most avid golfers at one time or another, particularly during the winter months, have ventured into an indoor golf facility to play a round of golf on a simulator.

However, those commercial golf simulators will typically run over $50,000.

Obviously, unless you have that kind of money lying around to spend on a toy, you will want to find some more affordable options.

Affordable golf simulators for under $5,000

Ok, spending $5,000 on a golf simulator may still seem like a lot of money for many people.  It is.

But that is the high end of the range we’ll focus on.

These days, you can literally set up a reasonable golf simulator for a few thousand dollars or less.

First, you’ll need the simulator device itself.  This is the device that will either track your club, your ball, or both, to simulate the flight of the golf ball.

If your desire is to keep the cost under $5,000, then you’ll be looking at packages involving simulators that track your club, or launch monitors that track your ball.

Optishot 2 Golf In a Box

affordable golf simulators for homeThe Optishot 2 golf simulator continues to be the most affordable golf simulator for home use.

This golf simulator involves one that tracks your club to determine the ball flight.  As a result, you really don’t even need to hit a real golf ball.

However, just to maintain the feel of hitting a real golf shot, I still recommend that you use a real ball.  That means you’ll also need a net.

The Optishot 2 Golf In a Box comes with the simulator pad, software, USB cable, hitting mat and a net.  You just hook it up to a computer or TV and away you go.

Rapsodo MLM

affordable golf simulatorThe Rapsodo MLM is a launch monitor product that is designed to be portable and to me more of a training aid than a golf simulator.

The launch monitor itself is around $500, and you can set it up indoors or outdoors.

Once you get it set up, you can immediately start tracking your shots as the Rapsodo MLM will record every swing and the data for each shot.

The package seen here is priced at just over $1,100.

Check it out at Rain or Shine Golf… Rapsodo MLM package.

FlightScope Mevo+

FlightScope Mevo+The FlightScope Mevo+ is a launch monitor that is a notch above Rapsodo and other launch monitors in that $500 price range.

The Mevo+ was introduced at the 2020 PGA Show and is a launch monitor that also allows you to play on real golf courses.

Additionally, you can use the Flightscope app to view session history, swing data and set up skills challenges.

This is a more advanced launch monitor, but this particular package will keep you under $2,500… you just need to supply the computer and monitor for viewing.

Check out this FlightScope Mevo+ package at Rain or Shine Golf here.

Skytrak HomeBay Golf Simulator

Skytrak HomebayLast but not least is this SkyTrak golf simulator package.  This is about as close as you can get to commercial set up, but with an obvious home feel, and all for about $5,000.

The SkyTrak is a higher end launch monitor similar to the FlightScope Mevo+.  These two launch monitors are practically interchangeable.

But, this package comes with an actual screen and projector for a setup that is more similar to the commercial facilities, but without the big enclosures.

So, this package comes with the Skytrak launch monitor, game improvement software, HDMI cable, net enclosure, hitting mat, impact screen and a short throw projector.

You’ve now got a good idea of what you can put together for a golf simulator set up at home.

If you have plenty of space, and the money, you can certainly go bigger.  But, I just wanted to give you an idea that there are affordable golf simulators for home use.

These are not the only packages you can put together at Rain or Shine Golf.  You can literally design your own package to suit your own needs, so check them out!
