If you are a reasonably decent golfer (shoot in the low 80s or better) you know the importance of being able to identify your distance to a target.
When you are sizing up tee shot, you need to know the distance to the nearest trouble off the tee and what club you should hit to provide your best opportunity to hit the fairway, while leaving a decent shot to hit the green.
When you are hitting your approach to the green, you need to know the distance to the hole, the distance to the front edge, and the distance to clear any trouble in front of the green.
Sounds complicated doesn’t it?
Well, most of us old timers never had the use of a rangefinder. We had to rely on inaccurate yardage markers in the fairway and then make an educated guess.
Now that we’ve had this rangefinder technology for a couple decades, we’ve seen some improvements in the technology.
Here is what to look for in the best golf rangefinder…
First, you want accuracy. Your rangefinder must get within about a yard of the exact distance between you and your target.
Second, you want solid optics. What you see when peering into the rangefinder should be as clear as possible.
Third, you want technology that can account for the slope between you and your target.
Fourth, you want jolt technology, i.e., a vibration that occurs when you are locked onto the target.
Fifth, you want the ability to identify targets up to at least 500 yards away.
Sixth, you want a rangefinder that is durable and weatherproof.
Last, you want decent battery life and easily replaced batteries.
So what is the best golf rangefinder for 2026?
Well, actually, I found two for you to consider.
Bushnell Tour V6 Shift Rangefinder
Bushnell has been the leader in rangefinder technology for years, and it continues to innovate.
The Bushnell Golf Tour V6 Shift Rangefinder has everything you are looking for in a golf rangefinder, except perhaps the wind adjustment.
However, I’ve found that the few models that offer that feature do not get great reviews.
This rangefinder offers everything else you will want. It is not the most expensive rangefinder but is still pricier than most.
With that said, if you want reliability and accuracy, you may want to pay for the brand.

Kaidrus Rangefinder
While performing the research for this article, I noted the wide price range for golf rangefinders.
You can find a rangefinder for as low as $29.
With that said, I am a believer in that you get what you pay for.
However, I found this Kaidrus rangefinder for a much lower price that so far on Amazon is getting exceptional reviews.
Color me a little skeptical, but I wanted to at least give you the opportunity to check it out. It is not $29, but it is significantly less than the Bushnell, and appears to offer similar features.

Final Thoughts – The Best Golf Rangefinder for 2026
Rangefinders are one of those products that appears at first glance to be more like a commodity.
However, when you dig into some of the features that you really want in a rangefinder, some products just stand out more than others.
Bushnell has been the leader of the pack for years and continues to put out a good product.
In my view, the Bushnell Golf Tour V6 Rangefinder still represents the best rangefinder for most golfers.
