One of the most common issues that new golfers and those golfers that still struggle to break 100 have is that they try to control the club in their golf swing too much with the hands and arms.

Many of these golfers also hold onto the club too tightly in an effort to gain control.

As a result, they develop an upper body dominated golf swing, which means they don’t have the correct Kinematic Sequence.

With this in mind, I introduce them to a few one handed golf swing drills which forces them to rely upon developing a correct Kinematic Sequence in order to make solid contact.

I often say you need to learn to lose control to gain control.

In some lessons, I’ve actually demonstrated how I can make solid contact with the ball on a very short swing while holding the club with just my thumb and forefinger.

This really forces me to rely on proper body movement to be able to strike the ball.

I’ve placed a video with these one handed drills on the Free Training page.

I highly recommend that you spend a few minutes with each practice session working on these drills.

Not only will they force you to learn the appropriate body sequencing to make solid contact, they will also help you develop better touch around the green.
