Making significant changes to your golf swing can be a difficult process.  It’s even more difficult if you try to this solely on the driving range.

The best recommendation I can offer for making swing changes is this… do slow motion practice swings, at home, in front of a mirror.

It’s best to start without a club in your hand if you have not mastered the proper kinematic sequence.  If this is the case, hold a ball in your hands as I’ve demonstrated in the swing sequence video.

Otherwise, if you have some room, get in front of the mirror to work on proper positioning of the club throughout the golf swing.  I also recommend using a weighted club.

If you struggle with some positions, the weighted club will help train your muscles a bit.

Keep in mind, when I slow motion, I really mean slooooowwww motion.  One swing should take a full minute.

Ben Hogan was known for doing slow motion swings that took as long as ten minutes to complete.

Hank Haney has mentioned that Tiger Woods would spend hours in front of the mirror trying to ingrain the changes they worked on.

Naturally, I don’t expect most people to spend hours in front of a mirror doing slow motion golf swings, but five to ten minutes a day will do wonders.

And, during the winter months, if there is no near term prospect of getting to the course or to the range, this is a great way to keep in touch with the game until the weather improves.

Now, get to work!
