My primary mission as an instructor is to help junior golfers achieve their competitive potential. In this day and age, particularly in a difficult economy, I understand the need for cost effective training. The vast majority of families cannot afford to send their student to a Leadbetter or Hank Haney IJGA academy, where the annual tuition is upwards of $50,000. Most families cannot afford the typical hourly rate of a full time instructor when the student requires substantial instruction. However, in order to compete with these types of golfers, I wanted to offer a cost effective alternative.
With all this in mind, I offer programs that can be tailored to the needs and financial situation of each student. These programs can include any or all of the following:
- Complete Game Evaluation – in one session I evaluate the student’s full swing utilizing V1 video analysis, the golfer’s distance control and shot shaping ability, short game strengths and weaknesses, and putting ability. Once I have evaluated the junior golfer’s overall game, I proceed to develop a plan for improvement, both in the short run and long run.
- Golf Fitness – as a martial artist and former competitive swimmer, I have a good foundation and knowledge base for providing fitness tips to the student, as well as a full scale workout program to assist in long run game improvement. My education in this regard is ongoing through the Hank Haney Associate Instructor program.
- Golf course management – a playing lesson with the student will assist in identify the student’s strengths and weaknesses in managing their game.
- Game Tracking – I will provide the student with ways to keep track of their game on the course and at the practice facility. This will involve the appropriate stats to keep track of and how, as well as practice drills and games to assist with improvement.
- Mental training – This is what ultimately separates the best players from the very good players. The objective here is to help the student learn how to play well in competition.
- Tournament consulting – Based upon the student’s ability, I can recommend a tournament schedule that will help the student develop as a competitive player.
- Collegiate consulting – As a former Division I golfer, I have a good understanding about what college coaches are looking for in their players. I can help the student develop a plan for attracting the attention of college coaches that includes what tournaments to play, what scores are required to attract the attention of schools at various levels, and what grades and test scores will be required.
As a Hank Haney Associate Instructor, I also have access to much of the information that is made available to students who train directly with Hank and his staff. This is what separates Hank Haney Pros from most other instructors. Not only does Hank have significant experience and knowledge, but he readily admits that he learns quite a bit from his students, and particularly from his experience working with Tiger Woods. He has passed on much of this knowledge through his teaching seminars and through the teaching program in which I am presently enrolled.
My fees for these programs can range from $100 to $300 per month, depending upon the needs of the student.
Also, beginning in 2012, I am proud to announce my Competitive Junior Golf Group Classes. These classes will cover advanced techniques designed to help the competitive golfer lower their scores in competition through more focused practice techniques and greater knowledge about the game.
Classes will be held twice each week….Wednesday at 6 pm and Saturdays at 9 am, and will typically run for 90 minutes. Topics will include advanced shotmaking, advanced practice techniques, advanced golf course management, and mental game skills. A maximum of 12 students will be accepted into this program.
The fee for these classes will be $99 per month.
